Talking '09 SL600 video "Lets go fast."

Hi peaches. I'm posting another video, here's an '09 SL600 my granddad owns. I took the liberty of sneaking it out for a test drive for us. (He doesn't mind me doing the occasional "Italian Tune-up.") He has actually already replaced this SL with a '10 CL63 AMG, so I'll let you guys know how that one preforms as well.

Impressions from this SL, WOWturboBOOOOOOOST! It's fantastic to hear that 12 unwind and ohmygosh fast when both turbos sing their song. That being said I still like my SD and my w114 thank you very much.

Here's the link.

the speedo was hard to read, all we heard was his voice saying he was going X MPH. I didn't see him driving in a manner that was placing himself or anyone else in danger.

Neither did I.

Cars passing me in the same direction going 80 to 100 mph faster than the speed limit happens every day.

So, if that PT loser had to make a sudden lane change due to some object in front of him what could you possibly do at 150MPH with one hand on the wheel no less?

The fastest I've taken my SL is 140 on an open stretch of 2 lane road with no cars in eyeshot. Now that I've done it I'll never try again.

It sounds to me that neither of you guys have done speeds like that, things happen reallyyyyyyy fast at that speed, not much time to react. Especially if your used to driving a diesel...

When I was in high school I took my car at the time to about 160mph on an empty road. It was fun but I don't think I'd do it outside of a track, have only been half that fast a handful of times since then , driving like a granny = good mileage! It was scary as all hell.

yes, speeding is fun.
yes, that car can handle it.
no, its not smart or remotely safe to do that on anything less than a four lane with no one around.

Hey, that's life. A wrecked SL is the only casualty. Grampa's already got a new AMG on-the-way. And hey, what's a family of four in a minivan's lives worth anyway? It's their fault if they got in this guy's way. Life is cheap to someone driving 160 mph on public thoroughfares. Do your own thing is a way of life for guys like this.

If you had one of those Benz's, you could make great time to my house.

Yes, if you know what you're doing.
Yes, if it has the right driver.
Yep.

Good times.

A friend hits 150mph+ in his E55 on his daily commute.

Nuckin futs.... His cars unlimited. He has had it north of 165mph several times, but cannot find the true top speed. O_o I have been on one of those runs.
