Non Benz question

I am trying to sell my 2000 F-150 XLT and the CC was completely clogged, so I had it removed, and now I get a check engine light. Is there anyway to bypass that censor?

Don't do it!

You can be personally liable for repairs to emissions equipment after the sale, so you might as well fix it right the first time. That way you get to choose the mechanic.

In Kentucky CC's aren't required.

You need to get the scanner to find out which sensor is throwing the Check Engine code. Most likely its an O2 sensor downstream of the cat.

It was my understanding that EPA regulations must still be followed in Kentucky.

It is sure to have that code as a result of this. Probably it is the code for catalytic converter efficiency. Maybe more.

There are kits to "fix" the problem, which reduce the voltage coming from the rear O2 sensor. That fools the computer into thinking that the converter is working.

I assume that a reduction is needed - I've never checked the voltage of the sensors on each side of a cat. On the front one (or a car without a cat), the voltage increases as the mixture is enriched.

Easier then that...

Sell it to someone who's looking for a cheap pickup truck, and willing to overlook a gross federal emissions violation in the name of a good deal (IE: me, for 1k )

Pa has emmissions testing now depending on population density in county. Also the changed the inspection law to read something along the line that all equipment must be on the car for it to pass. I think the cut off is 1996. 96 and older the parts have to be on the car and appear funtional. I know of several vehicle that the cats have a piece of pipe welded in place that look like the real thing. I cant wait to get out of this state to one that does not have inspections!!

Change the label so it says "Excellent Engine Light".
