W126 what year seats have no nets

Just curious. I could not find an answer. My front seats dont have hideous nets on the back. What is an option or a change in late in the life of the W126?

After the last interior restyle, for model years 1989-1991, the back seat map pockets came in to replace the parcel net.

So 1988 ones would be the last year of the parcel nets on the back seats.

No citing authority, just my long held belief about this

In your personal case, a 1991 560SEL was the flagship sedan, abd would definately have come from new the factory in Stuttgart, with back map pockets on the front seats.

If youi were not the first owner perhaps at some point your seats were replaced with the Generation I (1981-1985 model year) W126 seats, for some reason. Does the upholstery pattern match the rear seats, which also should have the 1989 -1991 upgrades.

Post a picture of all your front and back seats on here

I did not know about the interior restyle. I only knew about the engine change in 86. I thought that was the only major update. Thanks much!

I got rid of my seats with nets and now have seats from a 91 350SDL, no nets, just nice leather pouches.

The 89 restyle is quite nice IMHO. I like mine

As I understand it the W140 was supposed to come out in 89, but was delayed due to the development of the V12 motor. The restyle was preformed to freshen the line until the W140 finally came out in 91.

Ah. Makes sense. I remember that the 140 was slow to release. And I like the update, I could not deal with vertical lines in the seat backs. Yuk.

Nice interior by the way! Great was to get the full shot!

The \\\ on the doors are one of my favorite touches. Those lines actually match the lines on the doors of early cars with cloth interiors. IMHO the cloth interior on the Gen1 cars looks much better then the MBTex or leather.

A Mercedes developed vinyl interior. A damn good one though, you'd be hard pressed to tell that it isn't leather (I was in a GL the other day with MB-Tex and didn't even realize it wasn't leather)

How does one tell the difference? Build sheet? Label? Cut a piece out and ship it somewhere for testing?

Kinda like asking the difference between two pieces of copy paper really....as a rule though leather is normally perforated in order to let it breath.
