Anyone using MS Works?
How do you move typed lines up and down? I have large gaps between lines.
|
Are you talking about MS Works (very old) or MS Office?
|
I had MS works installed from the factory on my netbook. What garbage!!

Thanks for the info but i still need to know how to decrease the gapes between each line. I can not move the text lines up or down.

RIght click in the open space and see if it offers you a formatting or paragraph settings open, then check the spacing settings. Put them to 0 or default. Or highlight the whole document and press Ctrl+1, that will remove extra spacing.
And WHY are you using WORKS? Might as well have said "why won't my phonograph needle stay on the cylinder properly?" :D :D |

You are running Word - okay - is it Word 97, 2003, 2007 or 2010 ?
Word 97 and 2003 look alike and have those "windows XP" motif to them, 2007/2010 have the 'Office button" in the upper left corner and have the "Windows Vista" motif. Another thing to try would be to hit Crtl-A (this selects everything) and then find the 'Paragraph' settings and click through the tabs until you can get the paragraph spacing to 0. or this ? http://www.ehow.com/how_2091523_remove-line-spacing-ms-word.html -John |
The first thing you need to do is to look for the show formatting symbol
see http://office.microsoft.com/en-ca/word-help/show-or-hide-formatting-marks-HP005189641.aspx Click on that icon and see if you have been adding soft or hard "returns". I have called them soft or hard "returns" because this is the end of line character that is added to your document when you press the RETURN / ENTER key. If you have lots of (either soft returns => you press SHIFT + ENTER together) hard returns you can delete these to get the lines to go closer together. Otherwise you may format text be selecting what you want and (using the drop down menu) select FORMAT => PARAGRAPH and then choose the number of points (pts) before or after the paragraph. You get a new "paragraph" every time you hit RETURN / ENTER. Does this help? |
Thanks guys. I will give both a try.

OK: I am working in MS WORKS Database. The selections are File-edit-view-format-tools and help.I have spent 1 hour trying to figure this out to no avail. At the top of the page there are field1 field 2 etc.Below each Field is a column with numbers 1through 12 to type in.

What are you trying to do with a database? I guess this is different from the formatting question above? |
