I really, really just wanted a vacuum leak (BMW not the MB)

It really wasn't that's why I thought something simplistic. Pistons look fine and bottom end is tight. The cam caused the rocker failure. My bullett proof Straight 6 M50

How many miles are on it? The inside is super clean.

155K - I replaced that head about 24K ago (6 years ago). When a valve kissed #5. Must have F up when I did the valves and did not replace the rocker arms put back all good parts but must have tweaked something to cause the cam wear. Very stupid on my part. So I get to do it again.

......what is it with BMW's....they seem to break a LOT more often than MBs.......I work with a guy with a V12 7series, and it has ceased to run properly. Money. Pits.

It happens, my plumber has a head off one of the Mercruisers in his boat. With only 100 hours two cylinders lost compression, Merc didn't finish machine two intake valves right.

Yeah the M120 is quite good, one of the best V12's ever made. AMG still builds on the block for Zonda.

Actually, I know quite a few people with BMWs that would say the exact opposite.
