Computer/Bluetooth/Audio Question
 

OK, is it possible to connect a bluetooth or some sort of wireless headset to a USB port on a computer and listen to music around the house wirelessly?

Rather than use an iPod or .mp3 player, I want to stream audio off the internet and listened when I work.

Yup. I have an Airport Express with Airtunes. Of course I use iTunes which detects the box on the network (its wireless, but can be wired too). Then iTunes shows a pull-down menu for each wireless audio station. Such as "Kitchen" or "Living Room". Then I can stream internet radio or from my library.

But thats one method. I am sure by now there are tons of options out there in various configurations.

How about something that would be portable, for a laptop?

The Airport express is. Its works fine with a PC. Do you use iTunes? The Express was meant to be a small portable wireless station for on the road use. Such as when at a hotel with an ethernet port for internet. Plug the Express in and you now have wireless in your room. The audio thing was just an added bonus. It also has a USB port for a printer.

I looked around on Newegg.com and there are a few things out there that do similar things. Some cost a lot and some would not be very portable. And most do much more than music - probably means they are a pain to setup.

I have the IOGear one, not much range though, 20 feet tops.
Bluetooth really only specs out to 8 or 10 feet I think.

I got it so I can use my Bluetooth Mouse and Headset and only loose one USB port, although this laptop has 4 USB ports (One doubles with eSATA) so it's not a big issue.

I'd think there are better wireless headsets then a bluetooth if you want more range.
