How to remove sticker residue?

I just got a 92 Bronco from the fire dept. ( I need another vehicle like a hole in my head, but for $50 I couldn't resist!). Anyway I scraped off all the stickers and the glue is still on there. I tried goof off and WD-40 with no luck. Any suggestions?

Hmmmm...I've had great luck with WD-40 in the past. With stubborn residue I soaked a rag and either held it or taped it in place for a period of time and it's always worked. (We occasionally change the designs on our truck bodies to keep them more modern and stylish looking even though the trucks themselves are not. )

I'll be interested to see if anyone has another, more sure-fire method!

I have a friend who likes to use carb cleaner on glass. But that could be hell on your paint, like the products say, test on an inconspicuous place first

I bought a can of glue residue removal spray at the local art supply store. I can't remember it's name but it smells like citrus and works very well.

acetone is some serious solvent-I would not use it on any paint i wanted to stay in good shape.

X2 PanZZer,
Acetone will dissolve paint. I have heard of eucalyptus oil doing the job. Best way is to use a hair dryer to warm the sticker/glue before you remove it to begin with.
There is a cleaning solvent that body shops use to wipe down paint work prior to painting, that may work.

look at the last three posts in this wood refinishing thread-- This is the EASY way to remove the 1/16 ' thick clear coat on the console wood-i would not want it on the paint For sure!

and if you use the pre cleano that layback is talking about -wear the gloves, its mainly benzene/xylene and causes lymphoma.
