An odd one: German History lesson

I have suddenly found myself collecting german badges and things, in addition to collecting their cars.

I am being asked to buy THIS badge from a friend, I will buy it, simply on it's being german, but I'd like to get some sort of idea of what era it originates.
I can tell Prussian from Wiemar to Third Reich, very basically.

I already own a 2nd class 1914 Iron cross medal (replica) it hangs from my mirror

The photos will tell the tale. I don't really care whether or not it's real or fake, 7 or 70 years old.

Look at wiki's page on the German coat of Arms. Looks similar to the Bundesadler or just possibly the Reichsadler though not identitcal to either as displayed on that page. You say it's a badge? Don't see any attachment device for wearing it or anything like that so not sure what it's use is.

By the way. I also have a WWI EKII. Not sure if it's real or not though. Anything to do with German militaria is awash with fakes and forgeries.

If you look carefully at the rear shot, you can make out two brass straps attatched each at the eagles wing tops and to it's feet, they are pressed against the rear of the "medallion" I got word from the guy who has it that it could possibly be post 1945..

I bet you would get in to regiment beer steins. Some of the art work is amazing.

I was supposed to inherit my late grandfathers bier stein collection and black forest cuckoo clock collection. But his wife sold it all and didn't read the will. 50 or more pre and post war Bier Steins and at least 10 post war clocks and all of them were ornate.

Sorry to here that. I have one that I turned down $1400 because it was my great grandfathers regiment with his name and other company members. Only one other had any value was a 16" pilsner glass but it has all of my relatives who served in the Prussian war, WW1 and colony uprisings between.

While not definitive, the lack of a swasticka suggests post WWII origin.

Colonial uprisings? Does that mean the "Herero rebelion" in Deutsches Sud West?

Don't know that one. There was Arab, Wahehe, Hottentot, Maji Maji in east Africa. The Samoan and Cameroon rebellion were in that time also.

Actually, I did some looking and comparing against 'official' coats of arms, and it bears the most resemblance to the style they used post WWI pre WWII, about 1928-ish
