Government Motors headed to China

Sounds like a government paid, round the world trip for some GM executives. Where will the madness end?

GM in China

Quote:
GM executives plan to travel around the world starting Friday to attract interest in GM common stock, which will begin trading Nov. 18.
All at taxpayer expense.

Could have ended when we said "Sink or swim, your choice" but we didn't want to bite the bullet then so we drag it out like Terry Schiavo's case

"General Malaise" has been there for years. They haven't broken the technological and design barrier by cranking out bland Buick Centuries and fall asleep at the wheel minivans...

With 591,000 GM retirees counting on their checks - what's a government to do?!

Just think how inexpensively GM could build vehicles without that dead weight AND DRAG!

Is it a secret plan to bring the Chinese down, a poison chalice like GM may be just what is needed to slow them down.

Buick of all cars seems to be the one to have in China. I think that its great that an American car company can successfully compete in the global markets like GM does. Now that Ford is doing a lot better, hopefully this is the beginning of a rebirth in the US auto industry. That will create a lot of jobs.

We are share holders we are not paying them to fly around, they are using the travel budget. They are trying to negotiate a multi billion dollar deal, it takes some travel and money to do this.

Tell you what, Joe. You throw away your hard-earned retirement portfolio, and I'll do my damnedest to persuade those retirees to forsake their pensions.

Yup ,the tax break comes from the TARP law. It was supported by House Speaker to be Boner and signed into law by Dubya. Your linked article makes that clear.

If the IPO works out, it will be a drop in the bucket. I figure it was only a matter of time before they start tippy-toeing back on the private jets. At least they are rented this time.

It would be great IF it could. Compete with a handicap is not competing. Competing after being bailed out for digging yourself into a hole for decades is not considered competing.

Ah, but Sir. We HAVE paid for their trip

What's your point? That if a Rep President signs a bill it is a great idea? BTW, which party was dominant in Congress at the time it was hashed thru?

Federal Gov't ruling that enabled this gift occurred last year.

What difference does that make who is President? Can the President simply declare that item to be law WITHOUT the blessing of Congress?
