Topolino, Italian for "little mouse", not "Tropolino"

Yous talking to me?

All I know is it is topolino (little mouse). I read they are really nice to drive and have a top speed of maybe about 45 mph. I imagine it is like a morris minor but lighter....prettier too.

There were other light cars from that era. Even had some in the us. the american Bantam was based on an english austin 7, and the Studebaker champion was an excellent clean sheet of paper economical car designed and first marketed about 1939. It had a little flat head six and only weighed a bit over 2000#.

I'd guess a topolino would be near 1000#.

American Bantam developed the Jeep. They were too small of a company to mass produce them though.

As I rember the various us mfgrs were invited to build prototypes for testng by the army. The bantam design won and they did build them but ford and gm also built the same design in huge quantities. A lasting desgin for sure since the basic jeep is still being produced (sort of) now after over 70 years. Some people say the jeep won the war for us.....I think it was many things but the jeep is a geat design.

Our jeep wa better than the german's kublewagen but their tanks were much superior to our little gas engined deathtraps. Given the choice I imagine our fighting men would have been glad to switch with the germans on both items!

Yeazzbu Iz talkin to U. the old guy i bought that 309d truck from (my little mistake) , has two broke down in storage in big D and -last thing I need is one--but someone needs to luv on them --the frames looked quite delicate.
I remenber the hotrodders used to make drag cars out of them and the tiny motor would give way to a 181 chevy 4 banger If I ever got one . 140 horsies and a real rear axle would motorvate the little cutie nice
