another politician is worried about something stupid

Yep- another politician focuses on something stupid. Is this what she was elected for? To wear a hat in congress? All three parties are guilty.

There are rules for this that are written out for all to see, and they clearly state no hats while in session. Also no cell phones or laptops. And no smoking.

I say bring back Snuff Dipping! Rules are made to be broken and Joe Wilson, who yelled 'You Lie' during a State of the Union address, clearly broke them with his outburst since he was not standing when he spoke in the Chamber.

Wilson also broke the rules when he defamed a member of the Federal Government while speaking in the Chamber. To engage in debate is encouraged; personal attacks are not allowed.

Hopefully she will bring up these exceptions to the rules that Republicans allowed for Joe Wilson and be allowed an exception of her own.

Wilson was able to turn his breaking of the rules into a $2,100,000 fund raiser. I wonder if this lady could do the same with her hats?

"Instead, Wilson's first goal is to overturn a rule that blocks her from wearing a hat on the House floor. The freshman Democrat is pressing incoming House Speaker John Boehner to overturn the rule, which dates back to the 1800s, or at least to make an exception for her."

Fail. I predict a one term limit here for her.

wait; I see signs of a obssesive compulsive disorder here. She might have a case under the Americans With Disabilities Act, my mistake....

You see, Wilson doesn't own just a hat or two. By her count, the former Florida state House member owns at least 300 different hats, including custom-made sequined cowboy hats in virtually every color of the rainbow. Her hat collection is so massive, it takes up an entire room of her house, per the Miami New Times (which offers a photo gallery of Wilson's 25 best hats). "I've been wearing them almost 30 years," Wilson tells Politifact. "It's like a fetish."

Considering the fact that BOTH houses of Congress where controlled by the Democrats, if the LEADERS of either HOUSE lets its members go with a "slap on the wrist" as is the case with Joe Wilson, then why the complaint when the "new dog" comes in and says, "We going to follow the rules as they have been laid out before us" and a newbie comes in, doesn't care to read or follow the rules and the rules-police puts a beat-down on her.

If the rules say, "No hats," then it's no hats.

If the rules say, "No verbal *****-slappin' a guest speaker," then there should be no verbal *****-slappin' the guest speaker.

If the "rules committee" decides to do nothing about it...then it's history and that's that.

"Truthful" Wilson - 1
"Batty-Hatter" Wilson - 0

All this proves is that the earlier Wilson got let go as a political statement by the rules-committee Chair...at the time. The later Wilson is making some dumb-ass fashion statement and being a distraction.

Vanity, thy name overshadows common sense.

BTW: Just start reading the comments at the end of the story...just start...at this time, there are OVER 6,220 of them...and they don't really take "Batty's" side...

Joe Wilson broke the rules of decorum plain and simple. And the Rules Committee did take action against him for doing so, pointing out to him that the punishment for 'lack of decorum' could range from a minimum of Censure to a maximum of Expulsion from the House.

The result was he issued an apology for his actions which he called 'regrettable'.

The President graciously accepted his apology.

Yes, and as it turned out, what Joe Wilson called a lie, turned out to INDEED be a lie. Just as Nancy Pelosi said, after you vote on the bill you then get to see what's in the bill. Once we saw what was in the bill Joe Wilson turned out to be right.

I was very disappointed that he wimped out and apologized. I wonder if BO will apologize now that Joe has been found to be right.
