Did the Delay prosecutor abuse his power? The (Republican) Texas Court of Appeals says that the prosecutor is wrong on the law, but that's a far cry from the Duke lacrosse case. Is there more to the Delay case than the opinion lets on? |

What is your take on DeLay? Which side was using the Courts for blatantly political purposes? Or are both sides equally guilty? |

Prosecutors often try to get fame by taking down a politician. I meant was Delay acquitted due to purely political pressure? |

So if those of us who are not from Texas stop talking about it, does that mean that you'll confine your comments only to things that are wholly within its borders? If you have a thought or opinion on anything else, clearly it can't be meaningful outside of Texas... |
Check out how far DeLay reached into DC and you will see that this is not a Texas thing.
And... I was living in his district when he bailed on us. Some rather important people tried to get him to stay at least until his term was up and he just brushed them off. |

The last court of appeals is the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. There are nine Judges, seven of them are Republicans and most of them are Tea Party types.
They love DeLay because he was doing all he could to make sure the right people got elected, so one one expects them to rule any differently that the other Republican controlled court just did. |
Began as politics. Will end as politics. Politics is as inescapable to humans as gravity is to matter.
For all that it matters. |

If they had gone to trial they feared he would throw the book at them. And I would not call it political pressure. More like just letting one of their own skip out. |

Immediately after Ronnie Earle announced his retirement as District Attorney of Travis County in December 2007, he began being mentioned as a possible statewide candidate.[13] In the spring of 2009, Earle's name began being mentioned specifically in context with a race for either Texas Attorney General or Texas Governor.[14] Earle has said he is considering a run for one of the two posts.[15] On June 30, 2009, an Internet draft movement, DraftRonnie.com, was launched to urge Earle to run for Texas governor.[16] The Draft Ronnie website and draft movement ended in September, 2009, when Democrat Hank Gilbert entered the race for Texas Governor as the founder of the draft site announced his support for Gilbert and went to work for him as a high-level staffer. On December 18, 2009 Ronnie Earle filed to run for Lieutenant Governor of Texas. On March 2, 2010 Earle was defeated for the post of Lieutenant Governor in the Democratic primary by Labor leader Linda Chavez-Thompson.[17] Ronnie Earle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |
