Anyone here into R/C nitro cars?

I have an older Kyosho Ulitima that is out of tune and not running right.

I have to buy a C battery for the ignitor to try tonight BUT a few months ago it would start fine. Low speed and take off were OK but it would not "wind up". When you would give it full throttle it would just trail off and motor would die.

What is a good base setting for the high and low mixture screws?

I fly RC planes, so I am not very familar with the car carbs. It would depend on the type of carb. Usually, twin needle or airbleed carb. I think the cars are twin needle. For the high end, I would close it all the way, then 2-1/5 to 3 turns out. If airbleed, there should be a hole that air gets suck into, and a screw goes into it from the side. Position the end of the screw in the middle of the hole.
I think the car crabs have twin needles or a needle vave on the low end. I usually turn them out 2-1/5 turns and go from there. A friends said on Super Tigres, you stick a 'T' pin (sewining needle should do) into the carb and close the throttle barrel on it. Blow through the fuel tubing. Open the neddle valve till air starts to flow. It should be close.
I'd also try another glow plug. They do go bad. I don't know how rough the car engine are on glow plugs.
