Steel sawhorses - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

I am looking for some steel sawhorses to set my new Formula Ford on when in the garage so it is easy to work on. I am considering a set of them that are about 36" across the top, 30" tall and made from 2" square tube, welded. They need paint but otherwise look sound.

What should be a reasonable price for something like this?

That's a tough question. New price I'm gonna guess would be about $150 each, so go for half that.

How much does it weigh? I stored my 2000lb camper on 4 folding steel sawhorses I bought at Home Depot.

The ones you buy are kind of wobbly and have skinny legs, not meant for real heavy stuff.

Tom,
You may find it much easier to make a set of stands to suit. That way the car will sit on the appropriate load points.

Murphy's law will kick in and the saw horses will be just where you need to get your hand / lie down / pull that part backwards etc etc

With your location being near the Dayton, Ohio area, and it having plenty of die shops that are now defunct, you should be able to get some of them for real cheap. I have a set of 4 that I used while building dies...2 of them would hold over 6 tons of steel without issue.

if you get a set, make sure to adapt them to your specific needs for safety.

He's asking 150 for both. It does not seem unreasonable but I am feeling cheap I guess.

How much do those cost? The ff weighs about 940#.

Not very much. $25 or $30 apiece. I like the fact that they fold for storage. They're pretty sturdy but I can't recall their weight ratings. I've seen truck campers stored on two of them but I used 4 partly because it can get windy where I stored my camper.

If they'll take wind loads on a truck camper surely they will hold the little FF. I'll check those out.
