I don't think I'd want any of those people running the World Health Organization personally

Like Seth Myers said, the republican party's lineup looks like an episode of dancing with the stars, not the stars, the dancers.

Remember the president who had a 98% approval and lost the election? Obama is under 50%. Has no chance unless the Republican House forces him into some sound decisions.

Favorability rating is 53 percent last poll. You're mistaken. "has no chance" against....WHO? Which one of them gave the order to kill OBL? He can't lose against himself.

Where is the R alternative? None of them stand out. Major changes are needed no doubt. We need to jettison some of the cold war military spending. We could halve our current defense spending and still have a huge edge on all other countries, even in combination.

You're in favor of those kinds of cuts?

I don't see anybody running, from either party who I think will truly help the nation.

Romney, at least, has real world business and executive experience but I do not believe he is electable.

Having grown up around Chicago I've seen 40+ years of the amalgam of patronage, thuggery and corruption. Ultimately, it seem both parties engage in this type of behavior, though serving different groups.

I prefer the perspective of the founding fathers; humans are infallible, decentralize power, and maximize the rights and responsibilities of the individuals. We seem to live in a time in which folks wish to enjoy their rights and shirk their responsibilities.

Do you realize that there was a time when if you ordered a cup of coffee and drank it too fast and burned your tongue it was considered your fault. Hard to believe.

Perhaps if I lived in Illinois I would be this cynical and negative about Pols.

Of course this is a good thing for O politically but utimately it is a long time 'til the elections.

In the last presidential election, when it was about this far out, Rudy Guliani was in the lead,as was Hillary Clinton.

The problem for the repubs has been identified in this thread.
In "generic" polls, Obama loses to the "generic" R candidate.
However, when they put a name and a face on that candidate, Obama wins in all the polls.
November 2012 is a long way away.

Not that long when you consider that you have to groom a candidate, develop his/her message, raise funds, etc. PRIOR to the spring primaries...
