Euro or US W126 headlights? Preference?

I really want to upgrade to Euro lights. But then again, I like the more aggressive look of the US lights. As for lighting, I owned a Mark VIII prior. Even with new headlights a candle held out the window would be brighter. So based on looks alone, what do you prefer?

Im in for euro lights,euro bumpers are just a plus.

I also haven't decided. I have one of each (on W123s) and I like them both. They are completely different looks; the US lights look more 70s and the euro lights look more 80s to me.

Some cars like the W126 2nd gen and W201 later models will benefit greatly from using Euros function-wise (meaning this is the only way to go).

If you retrofit older lights to the car (bucket lights so to speak) you can upgrade the sealed beams to H4 conversions and still retain the US look (for a later model car it might not work, but it's still US spec - well partly).

Definitely Euro for the w126. I kind of like the Bug-eye look of the U.S. spec w123, it is very distinctive, and the w124 looks ok in U.S. spec. I think euro bumpers are 50/50 on w126s, they made the U.S. bumpers look good despite their enormity.

Better beam pattern, brighter, better aesthetics, and they were designed specifically for the car by German engineers, NOT the U.S. spec. style headoights, made by American headlight companies that bribed Congress through lobbying, to make them standard on Mercedes Benzes sold new in the USA (and later required to be retrofitted to gray market cars per DOT.)


In short, you want headlights that are OEM all over the world but USA, ori9ginally made for the car,

If it was a pre-1986 with those awful-looking halogen sealed beams, I would say definitely go Euro. 1986-up? Between you and your wallet.

Ah, but how do you know that the Euros weren't forced upon Europe by European lawyers, et. al.

I will probably go Euro as planned. Just need to get euro wipers also. It just that sometimes I look at mine and like the aggressive look of the US lights. The Euros seem softer.

Do the Euros have yellow fog?

Most euros don't have yellow fogs. You could make them yourself though by painting the reflectors with Dupli Color Metalcast paint, or moving the yellow glass domes over from your US lights.

You could also delete the wipers, IMO the font end looks cleaner without them.
