Might just have to add this one too his list... so I can play with it!

I know, I know... I have been trying to rationalize buying one, too, but we just had a baby GIRL. Don't think the wife would buy the "it's for the kid" argument. I need to stay on her good side, as I just bought another guitar that she has yet to learn about. It's on the way here now. Still need to figure out how to explain that one.

Hey, don't pigeonhole your kid! My younger boys played with my daughter's dollhouses plenty. Although it was usually the scene of some horrific disaster with bodies laying everywhere, fire and police trucks and cars swarming in and around it.

And, good luck with that.

It's not pigeonholing so much as a practicality issue... my wife is a minimalist, and does NOT like a bunch of toys cluttering things up. By "toys" I mean things for the baby OR me OR herself. She just never buys things -- I am blessed in a way, but at the same time, it's tough for me to justify splurging on little "fun" things. I did talk her into buying me a R/C indoor helicopter for Christmas, though, which (naturally) I had to test-fly to make sure it wouldn't need to be returned.

Anyway, FWIW, I have a feeling the girl's going to be a daddy's boy. I'll have her fetching 10 and 13mm sockets and wrenches for me in no time.

But of course! Fortunately or unfortunately, my wife is on the other end of that spectrum. Our den, the boys' room and our backyard look like a Toys R Us exploded.

Don't underestimate the power of Daddy's Little Girl! My daughter helps me out with vehicle, boat and power equipment stuff all the time. While my oldest son stays inside and play Playstation. Of course, she's just figuring out how to control the puppet strings.

Sounds about right. Ours (at less than 2 months of age) can whip up tears in no time, and just wants to be walked around the house facing OUT so she can look at things. As soon as she passes the threshold of one room to another, the wailing starts and she's looking around at the lights and whatnot. She's already got me figured out, but that's OK. She's worth it.

Sometimes I wish I was a minimalist with the lifesize old vehicle projects!

You and me both. I have been trying to talk myself out of a 1952 Ford F4 dump bed project truck. All I see when I look at it is the ultimate Christmas tree getter and around-town funmobile. Wife sees a money/time pit. She's the smart one.

A local toy store had a few of these went I passed through it a few weeks back.

You gotta love independently owned stores with toys that the big corporations would never touch.

Just tell her you had this guitar pick that needed a guitar to go along with it...besides, logically...you can't do anything with a guitar pick all by itself, right?

Watch out! I did that with my daughter and she turned into a mechanical engineer...

Well, tuition aside, I think I could handle that. We'll start working on that scholarship right now.
