My Dealer Cars for discussion

Mods, you can take this down if you think its inappropriate, but one of the things I miss most since getting the business is being able to post my cars in the sale section and have people discuss them. I thought I'd start a benign thread in OD where people aren't necessarily shopping, but like to look and comment.

If anyone wants to buy them I'm not opposed to it of course, but that is not the intent of this thread.

*Edit. Please do not feed the trolls and contribute to any mean spirited discussion either for or against me; this is not the intent of the thread.

Anyway: Cool car #1

http://wichita.craigslist.org/ctd/2109393387.html

Offering for sale a very rare 2002 Mercedes-Benz SL500 convertible Silver Arrow Edition. One of 1450 made on the final year of production of the R129 chassis. Designed to commemorate Mercedes' famous race cars of the 1930s-50s. The Silver arrows stand out with tons of cosmetics touches, including a special Silver Metallic paint job, 2 piece wheels with painted spokes and polished lip, AMG style sport body kit, 2 tone interior, aluminum door sills and pedals, dark burl wood with an engine turned finish metal in around the gear selector and instrument cluster, and much more. 5.0 Liter V8 putting out 302HP to the automatic transmission. Comes with both a hard top and power soft top. All options such keyless entry, heated seats, premium sound with 6 disc changer, power roll bar, ABS and traction control.

This example is a 2 owner vehicle, purchased Certified Pre-owned in 2005 with 39,000 miles. Until this year, the vehicle spent its entire life in South Georgia/North Florida and never saw a winter. Current mileage is around 70,500. Clean accident history report and title with no liens. Less than a month ago I had the car completely inspected and serviced. Service included an oil change, transmission service, power steering flush, and coolant flush. I also replaced the crankshaft position sensor. Tires are continentals with decent tread on the front and alot of tread on the rear. Power soft top operates flawlessly, along with everything else. Since this is the last year of an '80s design, it is a fairly straight forward, easy to work on and affordable vehicle to maintain when compared to the newer generations.

Priced to sell at $19750. KBB puts this car at over $27,000 with all the options. Please don't flag my ad again, this is the real deal. Call for more information. Thanks for looking.

90 750IL: These things are just as easy to maintain as a Honda Accord, right?

http://wichita.craigslist.org/ctd/2108059619.html

Offering for sale a rare and exquisite 1990 BMW 750IL. The 750 was the flagship model for BMW; the epitome of excess indicative of the era which it was conceived. The moment you open the door with a feel as solid as a bank vault, sit in the supple glove-like leather emitting an intoxicating aroma, and fire the massive V12 to life, you'll know how special this car really is. With only 60,000 miles, the car is in astounding cosmetic condition, finished in a beautiful black exterior on black leather interior with basket weave style alloy wheels. Loaded with power, heated, and lumbar adjustable seats, sunroof, 6 disc CD changer, and much more. This BMW comes from an enthusiast owner and has been serviced and inspected by a local BMW specialist, with a recent service and suspension work. There is a small leak coming from the oil pan and a power seat cable needs an adjustment, both of which are easily repairable. Like many older fuel injected engines that spend time sitting, it needs some time to warm up from a cold start before the motor runs perfectly. Overall the car runs and drives fantastically, offering many more smiles per gallon than miles per gallon.

Given the low miles, condition and collectability, this car is priced to sell at $5950 obo. Please cath any further questions. Thanks for looking.

Tyler,

Would one point in discussing them be in how better they can be sold or marketed?

If so, I believe that more geographic coverage/exposure on CL is one way, and of course ever loving EBay.

Perhaps you can explain something here I've been wondering about. How and why would an ad like the one captioned above be and get flagged? What is the purpose of flagging a legitimate ad, unless it is being done so by other car dealers?

Any good spirited discussion and criticism is welcome.

The ad gets flagged by dealer competition or people thinking its too cheap and a scam. I've had one craigslist account locked out because of this.

I always start with craigslist because its free. If I can find somebody locally during the first month then I have no advertising costs. Autotrader and Ebay ads can be very expensive. Of the 24 cars I've sold since opening in August, 19 sold via craigslist. This is the slow time of year for car sales, so I'm reluctant to run a slew of ebay ads while everyone is busy with the holidays, and I'm all over the place myself.

Everything is not free. Why don't you put up a decent website of your own for your dealership to advertise the cars on? Doesn't craigslist not allow ads from dealers/commercial enterprise?

IMHO "discussing" them here is just looking for more sales audience for free since you are in fact, selling them as a business.

I forgot to post this question too, trying to learn about CL:

I am under the notion that you cannot multi-post geographically a CL ad.
Is this true? If so, how does one get around this speed bump, or do you get around it?

For instance; your hi-line 2002 SL would have a larger pool of potential buyers in say, Kansas City, Dallas-Fort Worth, or Denver, versus 'Witchita.'

Do you have to make separate CL accounts to advertise it in multiple cities, without getting the ad deleted by CL? Just wondering?

I offered to pay to advertise here. The webmaster did not even shoot me a price... just said we do not have anything set up to take that, or some such. People can take me at my word or assume that I'm a slimy used car dealer with always the sinister intent. Its their choice based on their experience. This is a hobby for now, since I have a normal full time desk job.

Most folks looking for those already use aggregators to search in mutliple areas close to them. With the 300TD I had calls from both coasts, same goes for the Good Times Van, and Roadmaster.

Heckling and stalking aren't viewed as infractionable offenses on PP.

Trolling is infractionable.

If someone can explain the difference between trolling v. stalking or trolling v. heckling I'd be all ears....
