he's an idiot.

How much money does a tan shop have? Let him take it and don't get in his way. Game Over.

How much money do you have? Would it be ok to rob you? You SURE that he will just take the money and go? How do you know that after tying the guy up he wouldn't kill him and rape the girl or take them hostage?

Now, lets talk graduation. Sure he won't graduate to something else? One dead armed robber, city doesn't have to prosecute him, Everybody is safe, where is the downside? It only cost one bullet from the perp's gun. Still trying to see a downside. Everybody wins.

Google LA Tan Orland Park Ill. The dead robbers gun was the same gun used this past Oct. to murder one guy rehabbing a house and shoot another worker after which he proceeded to cross over into Indiana and shoot someone else. From what I read so far the same gun was used in all three shootings. The case had gone cold until now. This guy didn't know it at the time who he just shot until the police told him there could be more to this story. I think the popular opinion in that area is he is a hero because it most likely was going to end up more than a robbery.

One dead perp can't hurt anything, can it? Bullet is cheaper than hospitalization of victims and/or perp. Nobody significant is dead. Money is saved from trials and incarceration. Yet nobody has mentioned a downside.

Edit: Oh, I get it. Someday this guy might actually turn over a new leaf, be a useful member of society, cure cancer and maybe the common cold and be canonized by the church for his good works.

Kewl!

Could have ended way worse, glad the guy got the upper hand and took the perp by surprise. Glad that the perp is dead.

He sure moved quick when an opportunity presented itself...that was a decent amount of ground to cover between himself and the gun (With the girl in the way as well)

Points to her as well for very quickly getting on the phone to 911 after the situation had turned around.

That was a good distance covered , athletic as well . Notice how he dips down and hits the guy with left shoulder ( delivering full body weight) while at the same time grabbing gun ?

quick , cool calm collected

Wonder what his background was.

Good move, that could have turned bad for those two victims pretty quickly. Looks like the robber wasn't just a petty thug after a quick buck.

Luckily thanks to that mans actions everything turned out well, the criminal is dead and they are safe.

They had the guy on all the channels here.
He offered the robber his Xmas bonus, he said it was a lot of cash, the robber didn't seem to care.
The robber didn't have a mask on, so he and the girl could identify him.

The guy decided it wasn't a robbery and had to take advantage of the situation.

He seems amazingly calm in the interviews, but pretty much feels if he didn't do what he did, he'd probably be dead.

Judging by the bag of goodies he had I doubt he was just going to take the money. Wouldn't he have just had the clerk hand over the cash and scrammed if all he was after was money? It's a defeatist attitude like that that allows garbage like this guy to conduct a reign of terror with little fear of being challenged. The only thing you had right is the game over part. That guy is a true hero and we could use more like him. Thanks ED.
