This was on CNN briefly earlier. Saw it but couldn't hear anything. I really do hope that they track those to guys down and make them pay for the damages to the car.

(I'm not familiar with NYC snow laws....was the car parked legally?)

NYC hired quite a few outside contractors to move the snow. This fellow was obviously one of them.

The front end loader is ill equipped to deal with heavy snow............difficult to steer and low traction with the the conventional tires. Additionally, trying to get between parking places with such a huge machine is a recipe for disaster.

The city will pay..........no big deal.

I don't know, I've driven loaders like that, not articulated though.
Pretty tough to get one stuck, particularly in just a few feet of snow.

Really stupid on both drivers parts IMHO.

Didn't even realize. It's on CNN again right now and even on my computer I can't hear it...but you know, angry New Yorker....colorful language is to be expected

I saw something similar happen to a guy's car my freshman year of college. We got enough snow drifting to where you couldn't tell the car was tehre, then the loader piled all of the snow from the parking lot on top of the car, while backing into it several times. I'm sure mommy and daddy paid for all the damages and apologized to the university for their son's brand new car being parked inconveniently.

Read some of the comments...quite the variety. Almost as varied there as on OD here! Only with a bit more "edge" than we have here!

You have to admit, both the tow and plow drivers should have been relieved long before either of them got on that street...let alone, into that situation...their actions seemed to be more from a frustration level than anything else...who knows...they may have been out there for a MUCH LONGER TIME than is implied from the video.

Regardless, as soon as one or the other realized all WAS NOT GOING TO GO TOO WELL, they should have stopped and gotten more EXPERIENCED HELP.

Regardless, incompetence and arrogance mixed together with a seemingly helpless situation and crappy weather is one hell of a cocktail to stomach.

Watching it all take place the way it did is gut-wrenching, even if you don't own the vehicle(s) involved.

But reading the comments...priceless.

I liked the "supervisor - you'll need more than a supervisor" bit the best

Impressive. Things like that happen all the time. Meanwhile, there's several unemployed people out there with 5x the skills of operating such a machine.

The fact that he hit the car and kept going shows he's essentially a criminal with a job.

Unless the loader's tires look like 80% of the loader tires I've seen, worn right down to the wear bars and practically bald.

You can get anything unstuck with the right strategy. Heck, back in the day I managed to make it through almost 1.5 feet of snow with an indoor forklift...with essentially smooth wheels. I got stuck in the parking lot trying to put a cardboard bale in a pile, but with some strategy, use of the forks to push myself a bit, I managed to get out in less than 10 mins. The guy could have used the bucket to push/lift/pull the machine back out into the street and away from the cars. And a forklift is much less capable in that regard.

That's almost funny. I don't know who's worse the driver or the idiot yelling out the window. I'm just glad I don't live there.

I was wondering why he didn't do that.... I see excavators do it all the time and I know it wasn't that icy out.....

Having spent many hours in a skid steer moving snow, I can say that the three previous posts are absolutely correct, espescially Craig's post about being glad he doesn't live there.
