Soulless Bastard
"This afternoon Sanders sent out a fundraising appeal, seeking to raise money to fight Republicans and other “right-wing reactionaries” responsible for the climate that led to the shooting."
http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/sanders-fundraises-arizona-murders_533487.html Another opportunist MF: I am surprised that Bernie is not selling shards of Gillians skull as a totem to protect the true believers from the evil right wingers.... |

So did the Tea Party. If you don't believe me look it up. Will you change the title to add an S to Bastard? The Tea Party Express, a California-based conservative political action committee, sent out a letter to supporters Monday requesting donations in reaction to Saturday’s shooting at a political event in Tucson, Arizona that claimed six lives.....

Have right-wing reactionaries, through threats and acts of violence, intimidated people with different points of view from expressing their political positions?
That right there is some of that overheated rhetoric that whats'ername Palin is accused of, right? |

That knucklehead Sanders was a full day behind the Tea Party express. I will give him credit to be the only one making news about this in the Weekly Standard though.

No. Not quite right. The flavor of Palins overheated rhetoric has a implicit cryptic endorsement of an absolute "them vs. us" mentality, -- and a confrontational religious fervor that condones worship of firearms use, with loathing and demonizing of the "other"; and glorification of ignorance, anti-intellectualism, and oversimplification; From there it is an easy task for a few of her target audience to combine all of that to make the small intellectual jump that it would certainly be ok to use firearms to achieve their political goals. Sharron Angle was one of them, too, (the same as Palin). But Angle was just a litle bit more OBVIOUS.

^^^ Yup. Words have power. While there is no direct cause relationship, common use of such language does set a tenor of the times. Palin and her approximate crowd are saturated with the notion that problems in our nation are the doing of someone else. No one in their crowd could possibly be doing anything more intelligently than they are, no it's the other guys who need to get their act together. It flies in the face of ancient wisdom. JC and the Buddha both stressed that one should examine oneself for error rather than upbraid others for theirs.
While Sanders has cause to be disdainful of R rhetoric, his pitch was a tactical error at best. But I do not buy the notion that the Tea Party element who brought sidearms to events, etc. are purer than the driven snow and are being slandered and vilified by Soulless bastards.
