I may have found a peach.

Please tell me if you think I found a good one.

I have not brought it home yet but very soon.

It is a 1981 240 D........I know nothing about except it is a 2 owner and has documented 89 k.

It has always been garage kept and all records are with it.

It made me weak when I first saw it........and it started with temps in mid 20s on the first turn of the key dead cold and never idled up or down.....it actually purred like a..........

It ran like a new car and honestly looks to be a solid 10+ inside and a 9.9 outside.

I would appreciate any help or advice to help me keep this car like it is.

Or any advice of things I need to do or don't do.

Thanks you,

Revolverman.

What did you have to give for it?

It is a gem, from what I can tell.

Probably just as easy to swap in a 617 turbo in place of the 616.

Easy yes but based on it's condition I think its best to be left alone.

This is an amazing story, the seller had it listed only on CL for a couple months at two different times and had several emails and maybe a few calls but no one went to see it in all this time..........I was the only one to EVER go look today........ and almost fell over when I saw it.

I bought it within minutes....

Wow that's a nice W123!

Pay the guy whatever he wants within reason, your not going to do better.

Personally it looks to nice for a daily, you should preserve it. That's what I'm going to dig out when I buy my next older MB. Your so much better off paying for a car of that caliber than trying to restore a so so example to it. Even if it costs a few extra grand its worth it.

May I ask what you paid?

I guess he doesn't want to divulge the price.

I don't really care, I'm not trying to pry, just curious.

I hope he stole it, like $3k.

Although honestly even at $9k-$10k if I was a W123 fan I would still buy.

Yeah, I had $20k into my SDL and it didn't look that good. Its probably worth a few bucks.

I think these cars are going to be more collectible as time goes on.
