-26F This Morning

Burrrrrr.........

Cars were in an unheated garage and started up just fine! The dogs didn't want to stay outside too long.

It gets cold in Minnesota?

Over the past week, a lot of the license plates tooling around town here are from Iowa, Michigan, Colorado . .

"Snowbirds" are legendary in Phoenix Tucson and Green Valley. Not Flagstaff and Pinetop though, so much, this time of year.

With the weather up here nowadays - in the Sierra mountains foothill country, to say the truth, I would not mind hopping down here in my Grand Marquis and joining them at the "early Bird" dinner specials. Me and my car would fit right in. lol

Yea we had Sub zero here on No. Il, they said -18 in Savananh (far N West IL).
Not -28, but -5 or -8.

My workshop garage is heated and well insulated, although I keep it at 55 when I'm not out there.
Main garage, between the house and workshop) well insulated but unheated stayed above freezing BARELY.
I need to work on the garage door to seal it better.
I hate the brackets the idiots used are riveted to the track, I have to drill out the rivets and put a small stovebolts in there. Then I can adjust it.
I spent yeasterday afternoon putting a new opener in, always fails on the coldest day, but I don't think it was weather related.
Fortunately I can heat it some from the workshop and did much of the work in the workshop.

This is why work on the enclave/man cave is going so slowly. It's usually about 12 in there. The building was never insulated. The 220 000 BTU heater is pretty much useless in there. That's why I am cordoning off one area and completing the insulation there first.

At one point, I may have a chance for a position in Alabama, and I just might take it a year or so before I retire from job #2. However, if I can get the set-up I want in Michigan, the weather woill not be a factor in too many of my activities.

Actually I don't mind the temps so bad. I feel bad for my wife who grew up in the desert. I think I would feel weird not having cold weather and snow in the winter. It was nice and toasty in my E320 this morning though!

I live just outside of the suburbs. It was -26F in my area but in the Twin Cities themselves it was around -18-20F.

I was planning on getting my "garage" insulated this summer. Hopefully I will get it insulated this summer. My garage is an old barn, so insulating it will be intensive. I am planning on hiring someone to use the hard plastic blown insulation.

I was worried about the old TD -- cycled the glow plugs 3X and she started right up. I didn't plug 'er in overnight, nor do I have a heated garage.

Your driving the TD in the winter? I have not been on here for awhile. I knew you were mentioning selling your other cars and driving it.

It was a bit warmer in the city but I'm assuming you still drove out to work, so you hit the cooler temps. I guess it was already warming up by 6:30am when I left.

Yeah, hate to do it.

I'm looking for something else - maybe a Land Cruiser, but haven't found the right one yet. I'm going to hang onto the wagon... it got be through grad school with no issues, so I feel obligated to keep it.

I'm done with school up north and now working for the same organization, but at their Twin Cities location, so it's an easy drive.

You guys really got the cold stuff! I think it was was ten degrees warmer in the city, something like -13F when I went to start her up.
