Net neutrality and AT&T

The web was designed by scientist in a joint venture back in the early 90s. This was at a facility in Europe were the super collider was under construction.A conjoined effort of software used for them to enteract with each other on the project .The web was given to the world after it was realized useful ,this is if my facts are right. Is AT&T in line to take over the internet via fees ,Ive just recently noticed an AT&T heading saying ,"buy AT&T software " under their logo on the front page. The next thing will see is ,Your payment is due for faster service .

"Net Neutrality means that Internet service providers may not discriminate between different kinds of content and applications online. It guarantees a level playing field for all Web sites and Internet technologies."

In other words they will not restrict, slow down or block traffic based or the origin, type, location or owner of content.

Basically a very simple example would be that if you have service with ATT and you visit a Comcast site, they could slow down the page load. That would probably not happen, but its a very basic example. The other thing may be more plausible. If ATT has no interest in a video streaming site like Hulu, which uses a lot of traffic, they may slow down that traffic if it taxes there network.

Net neutrality has nothing to do with fees really. In fact Web Browers used to cost money like any other software until Microsoft used its monopoly to provide a free browser. Many people lost jobs.

So, what is the relationship between ATT fees and net neutrality?

Net Neutrality is the guiding principle that preserves the free and open Internet.

In your original post, you talk about internet speeds, ATT taking over the internet, software and fees.

I am confused as to what you are asking.

You edited your post changing the original replies. Either way, its still flat out wrong. If they are reducing your internet speed for not paying. So what? That has nothing to do with net neutrality. Has to do with not paying a bill so they reduce service versus cutting it out completely.

Your facts are a bit mislead, I'm sorry to say. CERN simply publicized the world wide web name and introduced the concept of the browser/server for public use. The "net" has been around since the late 60s if you count defense use, and from the early 80s in universities.

Yup. People often confuse the internet and world-wide-web as the same. One if the hardware layer, so to speak, the other the content.

And as you read, it still has nothing to do with net neutrality. What you describe is, as I said, a penalty for not paying/late payment.

Relationship between ATT and "Net Neutrality"

1.There is None
1a. ATT Would "LOVE" to control ANY Internet Content or Access.
1b. ATT WILL charge you you for anything they think they can get away with.
1c. Legal or Not, ATT (And Comcast,Etc.) will SLOW DOWN and/or Inhibit Your
Speeds.
2.ATT (And Comcast,Etc.) will attempt to defeat "Net Neutrality" by ANY means!

Net neutrality means you can't discriminate between different kinds of internet traffic based on the content of the traffic. You're talking about ATT charging more for more bandwidth, which is not the same as content-related discrimination.
