A very good reason to keep all religion as far away from government as possible.

What is going through their heads when they do that? Some of them must be having second thoughts. How much of it is religious belief and how much is peer pressure, so to speak?

I also wonder whether that is what Sharia law calls for in that situation. These guys might not be great religious scholars, so I wonder whether they are getting the doctrine right.

Religion basically is just some silly superstition we can't seem to get rid of. Much like herpes. If it is organized, it can do more damage. Either way, silly superstition.

We are sexual creatures. That means we reproduce. So, incest is part of that but was taken out because we know better. Still, it might be a great idea to push for genetic engineering so we can take out those weak or harmful genes.

Edit: Wouldn't prejudices like racism, sexism, etc, etc also be evolution's way of keeping the pack together? Why mate with someone of a different genetic makeup? Keep it in the family like the Egyptians. Family love is good lovin.

Dunno. I never believed in allowing nature that much say in our affairs. We have taken steps to overcome some of those deficiencies, why not removal of the superstition?

Still, I think we are just blaming the stars under which we were born.

This si the point I can never seem to get Americans to understand:

Shari'a law has nothing to do with Islam. Shari'a law is made up by tribes and associated so long with Islam that it stuck in the PRIMITIVE societies.

Look in any secular Arab state and you will discover that they hate Shari'a law.

Shari'a is just used to keep people in the tribe under control.

It's always better to be chief when you can scare ignorant people by telling them God is on YOUR side.

Islam has no moral code attached to it. Every so-called morality: salaf, haddith, etc etc etc is all hearsay people made up afterwards to suit their own means.

It's like Moses's son saying he's got the other six commandments at home, his dad had to go back and get them and get them cuz he couldn't carry them all at once . But hey, they're real, really, they are, man.....
