Snow, abandoned vehicles.... What?

Abandoned vehicles litter the George Washington Parkway in McLean, Virginia, just outside Washington on Thursday. The snowstorm caused havoc as many motorists abandoned their stranded vehicles during evening rush-hour in the Capital region. I just came across this photo on a news site with that caption. I'm sorry but abandoned vehicles? Who in the world would just leave their car in the middle of a highway and why? Also the vehicles in this picture don't look to be particurally stuck (Heck the parking lot that I use every day has deeper snow then that road ) Am I missing something here? |
Yeah why?

I have maintained that they MUST teach that particular technique in driver's ed classes; it is that prevalent. Also stopping at the bottom of all hills so that you force all behind you to lose their momentum, too.
|
I assume the road was packed with stopped cars when they were abandoned, then the road was plowed around these cars after the other eventually moved.

Inexperienced snow drivers + bad all seasons = the city better hurry up and impound those cars to make a quick buck!
|
Looks like Biff and Buffy couldn't make it up the hill.
|
Oh I just read some of them ran out of gas or crashed.

Apparently traffic was backed up for 10 hours. Some people just got out and walked home.

Still, that's at least one good reason to keep a full case of music CDs in the car :D |
Just catch a cab

No one in VA knows how to drive in the snow.
