If these become Islamic Republics, it is not exactly good news for the US. For decades, centuries at this point, the policy of the US and Britain has been to prevent the formation of the Arab Nation. These people have a shared language, a shared history, and shared religious and cultural traditions, and it has been our policy to keep them as squabbling states. Egypt, Kuwait, Iraq, Arabia, are as alike as Texas, California and New York. Iraq has been a basket case for decades thanks to our meddling, Saudi Arabia is a brutal dictatorship thanks to our meddling, and so is Egypt and Jordan. We are about to pay the price. We are on the verge of seeing the people from Algeria to Arabis take matters into their own hands, after our decade of murder and Hitler-style invasions across the Middle East. We may find ourselves wishing we had kept the secular Baath Party around instead of falsely equating them with the Jihadis.

You're right, I think blocking the internet, complete lawlessness (and reactionary violence) are the only option to our obviously very similar state-of-emergency law and government. Very helpful.

The government in Jordan is set up fundamentally different than those in Egypt and Tunisia--while they're still protesting, they aren't calling for a complete crumbling of the current governmental system, just a moderate reform (think tea party...)

That won't last. This is about to become a pan-Arab revolt.

I agree, the whole area is about to become a tempest and it is uncertain when it subsides who will be in power....

Another liberalish response that appears oblivious to the real reason behind the problem.

And yours a response completely ignorant to anything I have actually said--should I hold my breath for an intelligible and well informed response or jsut suffocate myself and get it over quickly? At least TxJake provided an accurate source... Jordan is a totally different country than Egypt or Tunisia and does not have the civil rights violations, the "temporary" government and law systems, and does not house the rancor seen in Tunisia or Egypt. People are protesting because of the poor economy and slow modification from King Abdullah II's initial onset to his goal of a british parliament type system (why they are calling for PM to step down). The government in Jordan has already issued reform and concessions whereas Tunisia and Egypt are pretty much in the sewer right now.

Edit: I thought your response was to my comment about TxJake's link...my mistake. Still, please tell us how we are similar to Tunisia and Egypt and how "Oboma" fits in there
