Gun Safety Training - NSSF vs. NRA?
I'm looking into some basic gun safety classes for my wife and I to attend together. One of the local ranges is offering classes from the National Shooting Sports Foundation. I've always attended NRA classes...
The NSSF program is called "First Shots". Anyone take that class? Is there a comparable NRA class, perhaps "FIRST Steps"? Any experience with these? |
If your state has a carry permit requirement you might wat to see what it takes to get one- they may require an NRA safety class and not recognize another organization.

I have heard of the NSSF, never attended one of there classes though.
If your looking to start your wife off with some basic training either organization would probably work. Although I'm partial to the NRA. |
The military also teaches gun safety and proper use. It's a free benefit of military service.

Don't get a gun, then you're certain your gun safety will be 100%

Guns are almost perfectly safe. One rarely hears of a gun spontaneously attacking anything.

I'd go with the NRA training

I strongly oppose anyone shooting at me.
