Be very careful believing anything like that on youtube !! It depends on what is in the particular batch of lacquer thinners.
Best way to clean a clogged cat converter is to get it very hot & run very lean. If its contaminated with leaded petrol or something similar, bad luck!!

When they come out with synthetic gasoline, cats won't be a problem. Synthetic aviation fuel is a reality.

Now, if the powers that be can see the advantage to synthetic gasoline, we'll all be a lot better off. But, they've got an investment in multi-million dollar refineries, etc etc. to worry about. Isn't it funny how one little invention can instantly turn the world on it's head?

I wouldn't try the laquer thinner trick - a lot of downside, not much upside.

I'd just replace it.

Laquer thinner seems to burn pretty well in gas engines. So I cannot see a lot of helpful by products produced to elevate a cats temperature. I have burnt straight laquer thinner in small amounts when removing varnish from gummed up carbs.

The only thing that I can think of is perhaps the exhaust gasses are hotter with laquer thinner. Never measured them so do not know.

If this is true then it could elevate the burn off possibilities in the cat. Probably the same as hot lean runs as one poster mentioned. A person may want to read some of the literature put out by the cat manufacturers.

Dare I mention with a straight pipe or rod out the contents of what you have. This of course where you can get away with it. Not applicable where emission testing is part of your states protocals.

I never have examined if a fair percentage of laquer thinner in the fuel would help or hurt an emmision check of a gas vehicle that was marginal. I suspect again without knowing that it does burn a lot cleaner than gas.
