How many remotes do you have?

Including key fobs.

I don't even know where all of them are . . . Just for my current TV/stereo set up I have five. However, I bought a sixth one, a Harmony 900, that will take the place of all of those as soon as I have it programed correctly.

Lessee.....

Ed's got one for the cable box that also makes the DVD player go. When Ed gets back in shape and moves back to the Cottage, the cable box and it's remote will get boxed up again.

Pretty sure there was one with the $20 TV we bought to play Wii on in the office, but it didn't have batteries and I have no idea where it is now.

Two of the window AC units came with remotes. No clue where those are.

Newest car in the fleet is a 94, and none of 'em have alarms, so no key fobs.

Guess that puts us at one temporary, and three MIA but not missed.

How the hell that translates into at least 6 orphaned remotes in the kitchen junk drawer, I simply don't know.

Unh hunh, just let us know when that happens!

I've got TWO "universal" remotes which each operate three of the five things I turn on. Got one TV remote for two TV's, don't know where the other went which used to operate the TV, DVD and equalizer but not the sound or cable. Got the cable one which operates the cable and TV but nothing else. Got the sound one which operates the amp and equalizer only. All of which are tiny and black similar sizes with completely unreadable numbers/labels to this set of old eyes.

Got the remote to one car. Haven't seen the remotes for the other cars or their stereos since I don't know when.

Supposedly the remotes for the ceiling fans were spotted last summer but I believe it was just a rumor.

Got the remotes for the outside "accent" lights, THOSE I do know where they are. Mostly because I have to turn them on to let the dogs out at night. Their freakin' ancestors hunted for food for thousands of years but the ferocious "killers" I have want a light to go pee.

That makes eight known ones with at least the same number MIA.

Jim, the ones in the junk drawers don't count. Those are merely storage spaces for dead or 90% dead batteries.

One for the TeeVee, one for the Roku. The wife has one for her car, but my vehicles were made before the idea had even occurred to anyone. The ones we have are two too many, far as I'm concerned.

Too many to count, but I replaced everything in the living room with a Harmony One Remote.

Used to be a lot.

Now it's one for the VW and a Harmony 550 that rules all the other remotes. The Harmony is great!! It controls a complete theater setup, a separate analog music listening setup, DVD, CD, WD Media Player, and the Wii, among others. Can't live without it!!

BTW, I firmly believe the Harmony is named as such to indicate harmony between man and wife!! I bought ours as an anniversary present for my wife. She was skeptical at first at the thought of a $75 remote. But she points it at the entertainment center, presses the button for the activity she wants, and the magic happens. Plus, if something isn't right, it's just a few buttons more and it figures out what needs to be done. One thing I really love about it is that it knows where you are and where you're trying to get-- it'll turn off some things and turn on the others when going between different activities.
