There was a case in Dallas about 20 years ago where a guy had his car towed. He paid the fee and left the shop. I think the car involved was a BMW 7-series.

Then he sued since the car was not towed in a legal manner. He wanted all his money back and to be paid by the towing company for every hour he spent fighting them over this. They said they would see him in court.

This was a case where there was a sign that said 'for our customers only'. He had gone into the business first and done business there and then he walked into a shop next door to purchase something else. While he was in the second shop a 'spotter' for the towing company hooked up and took his car to their lot. The guy came out and found an empty spot, called the cops and they told him where his car was.

He finally won in court but it took almost eight months. The towing company was ordered to return his towing charge and pay him for each hour spent fighting the case. Since he was one of the highest paid civil lawyers in the state he submitted a bill for his hours based on his last three years of IRS returns. The total was about $800,000.

The towing company settled for less, but it did shut down after that as no one would insure it against further incidents.

I think I've got the same questions everybody on the youtube comments did... one, why was the reporter already on the scene? Two, it sounds like the woman herself called 911 and then smashed the phone. Why would she call to report herself?
