I was a motorcycle cop for 22 years of my 30 year career. I was very fortunate not to have incurred serious injuries although I had my share of broken bones and road rash. Not fun. You can be the best rider in the world but when granny makes a left turn in front of you, you are doomed.

What would be a fender bender in a two car crash often ends up in a fatality in a car-MC crash.

I rode my own BMW motorcycles for 40 years. Quit riding a few years ago, just too damned dangerous out there.

My daughter's boy friend is now in a cast after having two screws and a plate put in his left ankle. The doctor says he will have trouble with it for the rest of his life. He will be out of work for two months. A 80 year old granny made that left turn in front of him. He is lucky.

If you like living and love your family and are not ready to get busted up or killed, don't get a motorcycle. Don't have tombstone courage...it can and will happen to you eventually.

You have the local leos following you into your drive when you are in your car, expect plenty more if you are on a bike.

Large bike = temporary citizen = organ donor

enuff gloom & doom already. Ride yur bike, be careful, act as if you are invisible, because you are. Don't do stupid stuff. IIRC, you got a Hayabusa? Just remember that it is capablw of waay more performance than most riders know what to do with. It's a docile beast, until you pull the trigger & then you had best know what's up.

If they are 600 sport bikes, they will give you a rush, as they are almost as fast as a liter bike. Hope you know how to wheelie....

Sensible advice from experienced former riders will fall on deaf ears. Wanting a motorcycle is like needing some more lines of nose candy. It cannot be reasoned away, but only rationalized. I'll be careful. Bad ***** happens to other people, not me. Only stupid riders get hurt. Blah blah blah.

You could always stay on the dirt where there are no cars.

Hopefully she said "OMG, what did I DO?" and promptly stroked out and died when she saw. And her estate had some serious $ for medical bills.

Sounds like the old bat overstayed her welcome on the roads. At the very least, she should have her license ceremonially soaked in kerosene and set on fire in front of her face.
