My wife and her bargains...

She recently went to a movie set sale, where they sell all the things used in the making of the movie. This was for the upcoming Channing Tatum film, Foxcatcher.

Anyway...she came home with a number of books from authors the likes, a dining room table, and a box containing 36 Master combination padlocks.

WTH am I going to do with 36 combination locks??

The dining room table is a fairly nice, dark cherry finished table that is at least 70 or so years old, judging by the hardware and construction. It will easily seat 8, but needs a little bit of love on the finish. It matches the chairs she picked up in a foreclosure clean-out back in June, so I can now have those chairs cleared out of the basement and put into use. The table came with the leather and felt table pads, and those are in really good shape.

Still what am I going to do with 36 combination locks?

She also picked up some beds and other furniture that she took to my oldest daughter for her apartment in Ohio. We have now completely furnished her place, including the living and dining room, for less than $300. My wife and youngest daughter spent the last few weeks in the basement, refinishing some of the tables and chairs they picked up from estate sales and clean-outs so that they could go to the other daughter...I'm just glad to have been able to help her, as well as get a bunch of crap out of my basement.

Those combination locks are still bugging me...36 of them, all in a box, all with their proper combination taped to the backs. All of them operate with a masterkey from the back, and I can change the combinations if needed.

She's planning on going again later this week, as she saw a number of dollies that we will need when we move next year, and other moving aids.

I think I'll call the high school later today and see if the AD wants these locks. Who in their right mind buys that many locks without a need for them?

Oh, she only paid $4 for the entire box of locks.

I'll give you $10 for the locks.

Seriously though, want to box some up and send them my way?

Could be the owner of said 36 locks owned a storage facility and padlocked the units that were behind on rent?

You could be really mean and lock random things around town. Like bikes. I can't find the Top Gear excerpt

Sneak up behind one of those guys with the giant holes in their earlobes. Quickly slip a lock into it and run like hell. 36 times.

If it came from a film sale those locks were most likely used to lock up the fleet of trucks used during production, most production trucks need two locks.

36 locks

Sounds to me like you should answer a casting call for Storage Wars!!!! You've got locks; go to a storage auction and buy some units ---- just kidding.

If you haven't sold the locks, break them into lots and sell them to various forum members. I'd take a few.
