We have a bridge like that in town, it seems a truck is stuck under it every other week, backing up traffic and pissing everyone off. Clearly most truck drivers either don't pay attention to bridge heights, look, or know how high there rig is. In this case since 18 wheelers are the worst offenders, usually they get stuck 1/2 way through and it splits the trailer.

On this railroad bridge it happens so frequently the front beam never gets a chance to really rust, its always pretty shiny where they hit.

Perhaps posting some information about the link......
It's trucks hitting low bridges.

I see it happen on the Merrit Parkway at least once every year but I know it's fairly common. (The sign says NO COMMERCIAL VEHICLES for a reason) The last one I saw was actually a few weeks ago just over the boarder on the Hutchinson river parkway....18 wheeler had the entire trailer roof ripped off from front to back.

Funny video.

Had a bridge south of here many years ago.
Whatever the height was 14 foot directly below the bridge.
But it was an underpass that went down under the bridge.
So long trucks under 14 feet would get stuck, as the front started to climb up the far side of the underpass, while the rear was still up on the entry to the underpass.

I laughed too hard at that. I guess I am an ass after all. I'm wondering who ran the camera on that spot.

There is an underpass (several actually), near the University of Louisville, Ky that catch trucks all the time. Buddy of mine's kid peeled part of the top off a truck one time there.

I grew up in Indianapolis. There was a rail road over-pass on Emerson road which was commonly smacked by trailers. There was a glass factory/warehouse located next to the tracks. The semi drivers would go through the bridge loaded with no problem. They'd unload and try to come back through, at full speed of course because they were headed home, with the expected results.

Just for kicks, I drove through it today. They give you fiar warning several intersections ahead. There's also a good sized side street that will allow a truck to go around the block and cross the tracks at the next intersection.

You can also see the low bridge plenty far up the road.

There are a couple bridges in my area that have the same problem...freshman year of college I had just walked under a bridge when BOOM! a moving truck hit the thing, sheared off the whole roof and flung all sorts of debris past me and my friend. The woman then backed up and drove off, roof flapping away in the wind

There is no insurance for that kind of damage from the rental companies, out of pocket 5 to 10 grand!
