How clever, I got a chuckle from that one. You are correct, I can't afford the springs this month because I don't buy parts I can't pay for at the end of the month. Though I would probably pull up in the '72 VW Westy, in primer gray, heck I would want be a target for those gold chain wearing salesmen that troll those venues.

This month the W126 and the E36(new cooling system) got some attention, next month the Jag XJS gets rear brakes and a fan clutch and the ML will get the rear struts. I just finished up doing the fuel pumps, EHA valve, and fuel pump relay on the W126. It runs great, so good in fact that the mixture has never been adjusted. The tower is still factory sealed, first one I have ever seen since the cars were still in dealer showrooms.

Good luck with it. Times are hard all over.

Thanks for kind words, and I agree, times are hard all over.

Just as an aside, we have been saving lots of money by vacuum sealing leftovers. That was the best $75 spent in a long time, no more wasted food and we can cook larger portions with no waste. The dog has been pretty miffed lately, no more table scraps for him.

You lose cell phone signals about 1/2 hour before you get there. There are no sounds or sights beyond the mountain and valley.
The drawback? You must be self-sufficient as the nearest hospital is over an hour away. Winter is a survival exercise.
Sounds pretty good to me.

Good practice to prepare for the move would be to flip the circuit breakers in your current house during the dead of winter. If you can go 2 weeks without power, you're ready!

I got the Atlantic ocean to my front and a huge salt marsh to my back. No neighbor on one side, other side is a vacation home only used 4 weeks a year. But then I got 'gators and hurricanes.

The salt-airing of my vehicles, gators and hurricanes would be new for me to live with on the gulf coast. However, I'm already familiar with; rattlesnakes, coral snakes, copperheads, scorpions and cotton mouths in Texas, already.

Ya know, Jim, I'm 'bout ready to. I've had my eye on an area of the Alabama gulf coast region that I may move my headquarters operation to. The lingering winter temps. and occasional ice/snow that invades N. Arkansas, N. New Mexico, and N. Arizona, frankly leave me 'cold'. Although, the Las Vegas desert basin is much to my weather liking in the wintertime.:)

Time to buy a compund with armed guards, I know this Libyan colonel that might have something soon, but needs cash....

well, some joker rolled his car in front of my apt bldg. yesterday, and took out a signal box and the neighbor's wrought iron fence. and there's a crack dealer and a few homeless folk down the street, who live in the parking lot behind the drug store. but, everybody here knows me, so the lowlifes and aging homeboys can't rob me or break into my vehicle - i'm family. anyway, there's also all kinds of other (good) people at the corner bakery/coffee place, one block away. it's called city life - good and bad. i like it, or maybe i'm just used to it. suburbia or country life sounds really dull. nice to look at and visit, but...

find a nice area and look for the minimum acre to 5 acre size lots. then all you have to worry about is local tenagers. or build a wall and get a big dog. hoods just love big dogs.... not

Nice try though, sport.;)

Let me work out someone who invested $20K per year for the last 37 years would be worth. If one started with $0 and invested $20K per year since 1973 at 7% annual return ( which is very conservative ), then he/she would be worth $3.4 millions. It the money were put into Berkshire Hathaway stock with an annualized return of 24.73% then one would have a net worth of $358.5 millions. He/She would be in a different league and would be driving a Bugatti Veyron and not a crappy MBZ.

The more one posts, the more one put one's credibility on the line. I suppose it does not matter as it is only the Internet.

My boss can afford any car he wants, and until a few years ago he was driving a Lincon town car. I have no comment on SRJ wealth- just your view of wealthy folks habits: they are no different that a person who thinks all ______ folks are _______. Fill in the blanks and understand the ridiculousness of the statement.

Correct.

The BLANKS you left, MTUPower, are not all that difficult to fill-in, either.

Sam Walton drove an old Ford pick up - I think we all know how the firm he started, Walmart has done......:D

My nearest paved road is 3 miles away, nearest neighbor is a half mile away. Given the state of affairs in most towns, I can't imagine living in a populated area. Out here, when you need help, it will be 20 minutes before an ambulance gets here, and don't hold your breath until the sheriff arrives. Ruger and Remington are your friends.:D
