Try as they might, their autopay billing will still consistently screw up my payments and thus making them late, and my AT&T iphone will never understand daylight savings time (alarms go off an hour before they are scheduled...) despite numerous updates, resets, etc., and chances are their customer service email link will continue to put me in an endless loop and eventually sign me out due to inactivity. Good for them though

Well, maybe now I'll have decent 3G on the highways, I drop to an EDGE connection on T-Mobile when my friend on ATT still has 3G

Hopefully. Sometimes we get less in the way of competition when two large companies (Verizon and AT&T in this case) can work out how to carve up the market.

P.S. $5 says they'll cut T-Mobiles unlimited $40 wireless data plan sooner or later. It's the only one out there for a reasonable price that doesn't have hard limits on bandwidth, just throttling after a user reaches however many gb of data.

You can count on the data plans going up and all upgrades will switch to the ATT plans like the Centennial merger, I'm glad I got out when I did.

More competition? It's the opposite pal.

Coming from a close source, ATT is looking to T-Mobile to better their data plans and for better 3G coverage. ATT customers will be getting the improvements, T-Moble customers will see the same old thing except an i-Phone option.

AT&T just announced that it will charge extra for 'heavy down loaders'. Didn't catch all the details but it was said it would be $10 per 50 gigabytes of data over a set limit.

To quote Jerry Seinfeld: "Even steven......you lose, and I gain." Or, I lose a bit and you gain.

I wouldn't get all freaked out about anything. There is still the 800 pound Gorilla in the room; Verizon, and they ain't goin' away!

Competition is alive and well.

Just because there's another big entity doesn't mean they'll compete. Only having two or three major players in an industry is just one or two less from a monopoly, and the fewer players are present, the easier it is to effectively act as a cartel. I believe they're competing when I see prices drop and services offered increase.

You may be right. Coca-Cola and Pepsi co-exist with the lion's share of soft drink business, and BOTH get a pretty penny for their products. As long as there is no price fixing, both firms keep their margins high.

However, I look for Verizon to step-up their full-court press in the marketplace.

Can you say,MONOPOLY (Spelled,Legalized Hooliganism)

Think there'll EVER be Competition in the U.S. Mobile Market?

I wish there was as much competition in the cell market as there is w/ soft drinks. Coke/pepsi/dr pepper have ~80% of the market and others have ~20% of the market. I can't say the same for cell phones. There are no "generic" cell networks where I can get unlimited data for half the prices of the big three. Verizon/AT&T/sprint might josh for market share initially, but I doubt they'll do anything but act as an informal cartel in the long run.

I wonder what Judge Green would have to say about this. He's probably turning in his grave.

http://www.beagle-ears.com/lars/engineer/telecom/obit-grn.htm

Most of you guys were in diapers when he played wackamole on ATT back in 1982 when there were only LANDLINE telephones.

This clip is about, what, 6 years old? And the beat goes on...

I've been a cingular/ATT customer ever since and I have no beef with anything.
