How exactly does one 'forget' that one owe over a quarter of a million dollars?

Ad Valorem ,Excise ,Air,Hair,Opinion,Etc. Taxes

Their taxing anything that doesn't breath ,right now.
(The Idiot Bureaucrats STILL haven't figured out The Tax Base has EVAPORATED
AND their not gonna be able to continue with "Business as Usual" Financially.)

If you read the article you'll see it's the "Birthers","Palinistas" and Kochs going
after McCaskill.
(Bet their[McCaskill's] accountant got REAMED)

Nice Plane,Though.

Oldest trick in the Southeast is to register a BIG Boat in N.C. and enjoy
"Tarheel" LOW marine taxes on the Vessel.
'Used to be Marinas in Ga.,Fla.,Alabama,Miss. were full of N.C. registered
Vessels.

Why not..Here in California we also have to pay property tax on boats. Alameda county has an assessor that monitors all the harbors in Oakland and Alameda.

Already here we (MS) pay tax on cars each year when you renew plate. The higher dollar the car the more $$. Ad Volorem TaX as its called. Had this tax in Kansas as well.

Indiana and Iowa also had a property tax on cars. Indiana got theirs passed by saying the property taxes would stay lower, then they raised the property tax anyway

sorry maybe it was something different, when I was there the guys were complaining about a big tax on car registrations, they all had trucks so they could avoid it through some exemption for farmers

On top of this, McCaskill signed on in February as a co-sponsor of Senate legislation that would fire federal employees if they are “seriously delinquent” in paying their own federal taxes.
D'oh indeed.

In CT we pay separate property tax on cars, trucks, motorcycles and trailers (boat, utility, camper, snowmobile). Boat, PWC, snowmobile and plane registrations have the tax built in to them so the taxes get paid, just not in a separate bill.

Well, you know politicians... they are notorious for "mis-remembering" things.

Depends on the law of the state you live in

Virginia is similar to MO in calculating property tax on private aircraft, or at least it was when a friend and I owned a Lake amphib we kept in a rural VA lake.

This is either a case of trusting your accountants to do their job with no oversight or plane dishonesty!

The Pilatus is a nice plane.
