Cool Cool boat!!

I saw Miss America the other weekend at a boat show. Talk about loud, when the fired it up you felt it more than heard it. If it was my boat I'd have a million bucks worth of noise ordnance violation tickets. Fire that thing up at 6am on a Sunday morning at the lake and EVERYONE will be up!

Went to the wooden boat show in FL, if the V8's don't do it for your there were plenty of V12's and radials!

They also had a couple of Chris Craft Cobra's there! Including the last one made for sale for only $325k! That's a cool and uber sexy boat!

What the heck are the motors in that Miss America boat? They look to be chevy v8s but why are the stacks so enormous?

I'm guessing they're Ford flathead V8's since they have 6 stacks a piece...

When the old Packard engines were discarded for more modern Chevy power in the early seventies, skinnier 8-pipe exhausts were installed.

Looks like they've since retrofitted large six-pipe units to mimic the originals on the Packard 12s.

Garfield Wood was quite a guy. He once raced a train from Miami to New York with one of his boats and won by 7 minutes! His Gar Wood boats are some of the finest ever made and you can still buy a custom made Gar Wood.....if you have the money!

Some people think "loud", others of us think "symphony".

I always get a woodie for woodies, those front engine/ aft cockpit boats must be a little tough to see out over. My favorite woody is this Van Dam, the Susan C. When I win the lottery I'd love to buy one and name it the Naughty Granny

I do, too. But I know I lack the patience and attention to detail required to maintain one properly.

There was a show (probably History Channel, maybe Discovery) on a Van Dam build from concept to delivery. It was a fascinating watch. Incredible craftsmanship and just drop-dead gorgeous boats!

Edit: The show was American Craftsman and the boat was the Sempre Avanti which was a "modern" Gage-Hacker interpretation.
