A move to Texas...

Is looking pretty nice right about now!

No state income tax, very nice weather, 85mph speed limits, nice roads, great people, and cheaper fuel!

Wrong attitude. You should move to California. They need your taxable income to support their welfare state. It's your duty.

Texas also has one the strongest economy of any other states according to some statistics. My guess is because of that lovely Texas Tea.

Yes, but don't overlook our property taxes (gotta pay for stuff somehow) and the prevalence of low wage jobs in the strengthening economy; oh, and the (by some counts) $25 billion budget shortfall.

As for weather, we're currently under an extreme fire danger warning due to drought and winds.

Gas is cheaper though, not even including Mexican gas. Although I think Oklahoma was "cheapest" recently. I hear gas is really cheap in Saudi Arabia. Not so much so in Iran, though, so you probably wouldn't want to move there.

"Best" gun laws is debatable. I personally wasn't a fan of letting CHL holders carry on college campuses. I do, however, strongly approve of letting CHL holders bypass the legislature metal detectors. (True!) http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/jul/19/gun-permit-allows-quick-access-texas-capitol/

Oh, and SRJ lives here.

How many illegal aliens are among those low wage earners?

Bet that depresses the labor market considerably, especially with the minimalist 'social services' network in TX.

Nice weather? Where? Ive been here since 1997 and it sucks hot sweaty monkey balls. Hot and humid summers. No winter to speak of. Spring and fall are very short if they happen.

Unless you live out in the middle of no where you will not see the 85mph.

Property tax is close to 3%.

It was not very difficult to figure out that Texas was a place I could make A LOT of money........Texas is where it's at. Moved here soon after travelling here and checking out the money to be made here in my industry. I figured it out in my early 20s. There was no contest in making the BIG buck$ here to me.

I've made a fortune here a whole lot easier than I could have in bungphruck Minnesota yuk! or almost any (fill-in state) for instance....

I routinely drive my MB 80 to 90 mph - why waste time on-the-road? lol

Do you have some sort of a pipeline operation going there?
Ironically, J.R. Ewing aka Larry Hagman lives right around here in the neighborhood. I proudly preserve the business card he gave me a few years ago.

There are likely more millionaires here per capita, than any state I've ever lived in. It's just not been difficult to make money here working in either of the industries I've been in for 38 years running - not to me anyway. The amount of excess money in circulation here is what keeps me here. It's too easy to access the 'mini-states' I do a lot of biz in from here anyway.

You could not pay me enough to live in California - I declined a very favorable promotion to So. CA. 25 years ago. Yuk!

Why would he want to leave the worker's paradise?

Some people still believe in Entrepreneur-ism. Texas seems to be the metaphorical enclave for such a venture.

If you are looking for a blue collar job, the Mexicans keep wages low since so many are illegal and will take low wages, which are still better than in Mexico.

You would need to be way out in West Texas to see 85 speed limits.
Property taxes are high, double most eastern states.
