Having floor pans remade - In Dallas TX?
 

I bought a set of floor pans from Europe. I'd like to have copies made of these before I install them because they are hard to come by here and I expect that someone would run into the same problems that i have.

Does anyone know of a metal shop in Dallas TX that can do this kind of work?

In Texas, no. But there's a machinist and fabricator in Locust Grove, GA who supposedly made a set of fenders for a 1936 Ford by simply looking at a picture of one. The guy's name is Robert Hendrix and I can probably find some contact info if you're interested.

Pretty pricey to have a good duplicate set made I would suspect if done properly.

2nd that..... plan on either $300-$600K tool and a very large press for each section. if you want to do each without tools a guy would likely spend a week on each one hammering it out

There used to be a guy on the north side of California Crossing road that could build anything. He was between the 'New Fine Arts' and the RR tracks. I don't know if he is still there, though. However, if you were in the area you could cruise the street and see if any metal shops are there. The whole road is not more than one mile long.

You might just start with a fabrecation shop in Dallas and see if they can do the job. If not they should be able to direct you to someone local who would want to take a crack at it.

You might be better off looking for a Stamping plant. I used to use a guy in the Industrial Ave area 35 years ago at the corner of Dragon and Payne, I think. Building the Buck was the big cost; after that you could just have them stamped out as fast as they could load them in.

How many are you wanting made? Setting up to stamp them like the originals would be very expensive to set up, but the marginal cost of each additional unit would be low. If you're looking to make a lot of them, as in hundreds if not thousands, this would make sense. If you just want a few, it's going to be a lot cheaper to have a good fabricator cutting, bending, and welding by hand.

I think it will be cheaper to order a couple from Europe, over here they are 66 euro.
