Removing hardtop 88 Sl560/sun visor clips

Good evening to all,

I'm having trouble removing the hardtop and I'm also looking for sun visor clips (navy blue).

This question should have been posed in the SL forum.

I'm assuming that you turned the 4 lugs to unlock the hard top...2 are located just above the visors, and the other two are located on the B pilars, where the top meets the body. Did you disengage the locking pin by turning the handle located behind the driver's seat on the side?

If you did the above, then the cable that actuates the locking mechanism for the locking pin in the rear may be out of adjustment.

Search the SL forum and you should come across the thread discussing the cable and locking pin.

As for the visor clips, you can find them on E-bay in all known interior colors.

Take the carpet and back cover panel (lots of bolts) out of the trunk. You will be able to see the release cable in the left back corner. Have someone operate the release handle while you watch, to figure out which one it is. You want to pull on it with a stiff coat hanger, or hook of some sort...while two other people on each side of the top attempt to lift it off.

You can also carefully twist the top UP and to the driver side and that will help release the center pin. Once you get the top off, be sure to adjust the cable properly so that the release handle goes through its entire motion and you don't have to do this twice!
