One of my favorite BMW's...

635CSI, just saw a super mint one the other day. I forgot how good they look and they seem to sound and go pretty good too!

Love those BBS wheels!

That was the last generation of BMW I would own. The first generation 6-series was a nice car. At the time, my girlfriend owned a first generation 3-series which I though was petty cool; eventually she and the car moved out.

Wow I didn't realize they made an M version, I think I'm in love! The early M stuff before all the silly electronics is quite good. Light car+manual+ big straight 6 that revs to the moon=lots of fun!

Listen to that 6 scream!

Euro ones are really pretty and faster (286hp vs 250hp)

If I could find a nice one, it would look good parked next to my Euro 560SEC.

Yeah I would eventually like to snag a really good AMG'd W126. Thinking they would look nice together.

Also IMHO these are the kind of cars that are going to go up in value as my generation starts to have money to blow on them. They are the Hemi Cuda's of my generation.

Last summer I was (a little) tempted by a 850i that I saw for sale on the side of the road in MD. I think they wanted about $16k and it looked like it would need a little work. I was 2000 miles from home, and I didn't need another project.

My only gripe with the 6-er is it's trunk. From behind, it may be the ugliest car on the road. It was actually the only reason I didn't trade my W126 for one a year ago.

Here's another bruiser from the same era (the 6 series actually came out in 1976)

Snapped this picture at my town's car show yesterday. An 850 is definitely on my "to own" list someday, I'd take it over a 560SEC or 500E if I could afford it.

When I worked at a marina during summers in college this older balding gold chain polyester pants wearing boat broker had a red 635csi. It looked good and he would rip around the marina parking lot in that thing. I think he eventually broke it as he started driving a poorly tuned red 320i.

You may want to look at a 97 or so 840CI. It's almost as powerful, more reliable and by then the V8's were rid of the nikasil block issues.

You don't want the 4L but the later 4.4. Any 12 cylinder is to be avoided, no matter who makes it.

My old boss had a Dinan turbo charged M635csi (Euro M6) and it was a badass car).

The Big Coupe Group covers the various BMW coupes from the 3.0CS onward, maybe goes back further, I am not sure.

I'm not about to actually buy one, I'm not that much of a BMW fan; but the only reason I found the 850 interesting was because it was a V12. The V8s aren't that uncommon.

They are in the coupe. Plenty of 740s and 540s around though.

Even in Los Angeles you don't see that many 840's.
