Sounds like a load of crap. How do you text and use your cell as a flashlight? What are you trying to achieve? If the lighted part is used to look at the floor, how would you text? I text but can't figure how to do that. A movie theater isn't that dark. When I was a kid, you used to have to pick your seating and an usher showed you to the seat with a flashlight to point it. Today, it is free seating and there are previews or the movie going on so there is enough light.

After listening to the caller, I sort of assumed there is more to the story (than their version). Phones in theaters are an issue - you wouldn't think it would be but...........

Hey, their theater, their rules. IMHO, no different than "no shirt no shoes no service" or "no smoking on the premises". Or my father's "my house my rules" on a more basic level.

Young lady doesn't like the rules, she's free to go to another theater that lets such activity pass, or wait and rent the movie on DVD and watch it at home where she can do whatever she pleases.

I quit going to movie theaters many years ago, got tired of putting up with what was considered "acceptable" public behavior by the morons who thought they could act the same way in the theater as they did in their own living room.

Matter of fact, I'd be rather pleased if more businesses started taking a similar line with their customers as to conducting themselves in an acceptable manner on their premises - I have the feeling that once word got out, they'd find themselves with more customers instead of less.

OTOH, imagine if Walmart instituted a "no shirt no shoes no service" policy - they'd probably lose 75% of their customers.

Such as what? We heard her version of it in her own words.

Obviously if I can see it from the backlight, it can be considered jarring by some. Since they can see enough to notice her, I guess it is noticeable. Kinda like talking in a library. If I can hear enough to ask you to be quiet, it isn't that soft a level you are talking at.

Well, I for one would love it if the restaurants had a policy of "Well behaved kids or leave them at home" but while a few are doing it, you don't see it in most places. You too would think that it would make for a more pleasant dining experience than to have screaming kids but apparently that isn't the thought.

I haven't seen that at any Wal*Mart I have been to where there is no shirt. We may consider that what they are wearing is not a shirt but rags but they are all with shirts as far as I can see. And if they can walk on the pavements without footwear, I'm good. There is enough broken glass to cut their feet on.

That was more of a tongue-in-cheek reference to the type of crowd Walmart attracts to begin with - ie, the webpages with the pictures of the "People of Walmart" - self respect and fashion sense are obviously foreign concepts to some of them.

The cell phone usage is rather annoying as are people's lack of manners.

They should just install jammers that come on during the movie, I would love to see jammers everyone as a mater of fact.

Being a rude *(&^*(^ on the phone isn't a right.

Why should everyone have to suffer because of a few people? You don't like someone texting in your theater or getting on the phone, the solution is to throw them out. Why should we be unable to receive our calls just because some people misbehave? If I receive a call during a show and my phone is on silent, I should be able to walk out and do what I want to do.

There's even more to the story...Alamo Drafthouses are a kind of unique concept in theater where you can order food and drinks before and during the presentation. Because of this, waitstaff is moving around the theater throughout the show. It sounds distracting but isn't...especially after a couple of beers and a meal. They're pretty discrete.

Point is, there is more than enough light to see what you're doing. A phone display would be completely unnecessary for illumination.

The young girl on the phone got what she had coming to her because of her piss-poor manners. Period.

In any movie theater I have been in, there has always been more than enough light with the movie running or previews running so her story of a flashlight is pretty bogus.

I disagree. It would have been better to turn off the movie, turn on the lights and escort her out before continuing to let the patrons see who she is.
