I'm sure everyone has a tourist story like this one, compliments of Chris Smith's column in the Santa Rosa (northern California) Press Democrat:

A TRAVELER FROM THE NORTH carried a question into the Convention and Visitors Bureau in Santa Rosa’s Railroad Square.

He sought the street address of the Golden Gate Bridge. Stumped, staffers inquired politely what he needed it for.

The tourist replied that he had to enter the bridge’s address into his vehicle’s GPS to assure that as he drives south on 101 “I don’t miss it.”

If he were driving North from San Jose the $5 toll ought to wake him up enough that he wouldn't miss it.

Tourists...geeze....just watched a guy from NJ back his new Dodge pickup truck completely into the water trying to launch a boat here in SC. He left it in reverse and got out!

The gov. ought to sell tickets to a grandstand at launching ramps. Its cheap entertainment, and they might be able to balance the budget.

The toll on the Golden Gate Bridge is $6 southbound. Were you thinking of some other bridge or am I misreading you?

You are not misreading. I go across it very infrequently, fortunately. Remembered that the toll was on the SF side, didnt remember you got to go all the way across before paying to get off though.....thought it was the other way around.
