Anyone ever purchase a car via copart.com?
I'm nosing around for a rear ended, silver W124 to use for parts. Has anyone on here ever purchased a parts car using copart.com? Anything to keep an eye out using it? I don't car if it runs or not as long as the front end sheet metal is not bent up.

You'll be shocked at how expensive the cars go for there. I was looking for a Miata for parts and saw slightly wrecked cars bringing good trade in value. I finally got one so badly rearended with such high mileage that nobody was paying attention to it. Still set me back almost $500.

Copart type auctions also adds a 'handling fee' for doing paperwork and such. You need to look into this as it can add about $250 to the final bid price.
Copart may be more, less or zero, but it would be best to look into it first. You might also keep an eye on city auto pound auctions. Cars there with serious damage tend to go for less than they do at Insurance Auctions. At least that is what I have seen. |
