1972 450sl points problem
 

i have been having problems with my points for the last year. now they keep magnetizing and i have to demagnetize them every 2 days. any suggestions as to what is causing this. i have replaced the condenser, dist cap and wires.

Your condenser is going out. You will soon see your points burning down to a nub. You engine will still run but very poorly.

You can find a shop that still has an ignition analyzer and pay the $50 bucks to have this gone through, but you can replace the points and condenser for a lot less.

And check to see that the wire from the condenser is making a good connection.
