How much heat Can a Standard Webber Charcoal Grill take? I'm thinking of melting some metal and need a heat of 1500-875 degrees. Possible to do? I'm thinking no.. but I am hoping yes

That's pretty hot.

Things will be melting, phase changes, boundary grain migration, etc.

That's a lot of heat with a rubber tube next to a propane tank.

I don't like it.

Got ya on that one, my main Webber is from 1990, maybe 89. I did have to reattach the handle with screws when the welds gave out, and I stain the wood handles regularly, still works and looks like new.

I have my old spare in the attic 1970 +/-. Actually picked up at the factory warehouse bruised and reduced sale when they were still in Arlington Heights.

This is a question from a man who lives in an area where he gets grief from his neighbours if he opens the hood of his car????

Forget the Webber BBQ - go for pressurised gas and oxygen - with lots of noise - and see how the neighbours react to that!

I've had my 22" grill stock webber thermometer all the way around back to 140 more than once. There are spots in the side where the enamel has popped off, and at one point it rained and the red/orange grill lid was changing color as the drops hit.

Drill a hole for the air compressor hose pipe, get a pallet load of Kingsford and fire it up! I think I'd take the legs off and set it in a pit dug in the dirt first though..

Well. It was a free grill. and if I melt it, I wont feel bad. I have a huge sand pile outside from a 400G fish tank I cleaned out. so I'll stick it into that and see what happens

I'd get a really long gas hose if I'ze you.

Was thinking of doing a hardline. but a really long one is on the list of things to get :)

I do have another idea. Put the Crucible into the Steam engine as it's fired. Thats easily over 1800 Degrees in there with the coal going. with the birthday party going on it'll be sitting idle between runs for an hour... It's Perfect!
