There must be something in the water in Phoenix
Sure, I say, "open carry" is a good law. Why is it again some of us think allowing just anyone to carry a gun is stupid?
Getting shot in a grocery store? It happens. Shooting yourself in a grocery store while putting away your girlfriend's PINK pistol? Dude, you need to turn in your "man" card. Oh wait, you already did. "Clean up in aisle 4" http://azstarnet.com/news/blogs/police-beat/article_dc342756-c1f5-11e0-88f5-001cc4c002e0.html |
Ouchhhhh!

The problem with gun laws, sorry I'm generall against guns, is they don't include an intelligence test. Although they would disqualify 70% of the applicants.
|
i'll agree with that 100%.you should also have to have a qualifying test to see if you can actually hit a target.

To drive a car you need to show some minimal competence. As a gun owner I see no conflict between a basic firearms skills test and the second amendment. As it stands right now, pretty much the only firearms training available to most people comes with a large dose of NRA right wing BS at no additional cost.

The problem with gun laws is that they don't take into account the fact, and it is a fact that has been proven countless times in the past and will continue to be proven in the future, that no matter how smart the owner is in hiding the gun it seems that any 5 year old can find it and shoot his friend

It is not the overall parenting skills that get children killed it is that one second lapse of judgement that does it. The parents can hide a gun so that god couldn't find it but two 8 year olds can find it in a second.
My youngest son at about age 8 played with the child of a good hearted, hard working man that I knew for years and liked very much. One afternoon my son came home and mentioned that he and his friend had found a gun in the attic. I asked my friend if he owned a gun and he said yes he owned an old army .45 but that it was hidden safely in the attic. I told him that it wasn't hidden any more. I never let my son go to his house again. His friend was welcome at our house but the other way around. The thought of one of them shooting the other plagued me for years. All it would have taken is one split second and the lives of two families would have changed forever. |
