These poor 12 States

.

Obama's Gallup numbers show 12 states in play in 2012

According to a Gallup poll discussed in the LA Times these 12 states will determine the outcome. They'll have all the ads, media attention, etc.

My condolences.

Florida (29) and Ohio (18); Iowa (6)

Virginia (13), North Carolina (15) and Georgia (16)

Oregon (7), Nevada (6), Arizona (11), New Mexico (5) and Colorado (9)

.

Good luck with NoCar. I think they eleceted the first Republican state legislature since Reconstruction last year.
If he can't win there and Ohio, with a new Republican Governor, he's done.

I'd've thought Florida and Virginia would be the keys.

The fact that the Repub don't have and for now do not appear to have a candidate sure helps him.

Whomever wins, do we win? Not as long as there is a human being in the WH and in Congress. Sure, it will come with a difference in the face and banner they fly but in the end, what is the difference between electing a Republicrat or a Demopublican? All we have is the lessor of 2 evils.

That's just my take. NoCar was an abnormal democratic victory in 2008.
It's not by accident the Dems are having their National convention in Charlotte NC, although I doubt they will make inroads with the NASCAR clan.
Ohio is a belleweather state. Hign unemployment in both states.
Kasich is getting through "conservative" changes there.. sort of Scott Walker lite stuff.

True that, although sooner or later everyone tires of executives that can't execute.

Isn't that a cycle though? Dems spend too much, elect a Repub. Well, he works out well but later decides to spend also. Fire him and hire a Dem that won't spend too much who later spends and so on and so forth. Spending is a good way to get elected. cutting programs isn't. Think about parents vs grandparents. Parents say "NO. Eat your dinner before dessert and all the veggies.". Grandparents give all kinds of nice treats.

AZ has never been a battleground state, never will either.
So far, there's nobody for Obama to lose TO.

Promising to raise taxes is an immediate RX for disaster. Ask Fritz.
Saying "Read my lips ...no new taxes" is a delayed fuse disaster. Ask Bush41.

But after kicking the can down the road for 50 years, we have reached the end of the line.. the cliff. What now, pray tell?

How about: self-reliance, personal integrity, intestinal fortitude, ...

This nation sure didn't begin with folks asking for much more than a chance to see what they could make of their lives.

Why is everyone always looking to someone else to solve their challenges?

We haven't reached the end of the line yet by any means. Only S&P downgraded our credit rating by one notch. We reach the end of the line when nobody in their right mind will extend us a penny at whatever the interest rate promised. At that point, the market will force us to do certain things and make certain choices. Till then, the party still goes on as long as we can shuffle it from the left to the right pocket.

What good qualities we had was, I suspect, forced on us. When you are told to either live or die and nobody gives a damn, you will either become better thru the good being better and the lesser dying out. You have to think of a chain. It is as strong as the weakest link. When you add weak links the chain becomes weaker

Those states should secede from the union until after the election, problem solved.
