No Conservative Media Love for Ron Paul

Except from Jon Stewart?

“He’s the one guy in the field, agree with him or don’t agree with him, who doesn’t just regurgitate talking points or change what he believes to fit the audience in front of him.”

I had no idea that he lost the ever so important Ames Iowa Straw poll by 152 votes.

NOBODY in the Repo Party like Paul. He is not a party boy. His social perspective is far more liberal than most of Congress and his economic policy is to the right of the much maligned Ms Rand, yet unlike Ms Rand or the leftists, Paul is strongly anti-abortion. And unlike the Repos, he is strongly anti-military adventures.

Good luck pigeonholing that guy!

I like him all the more for it.

He probably wouldn't be a terrible President, at the very least he would get us out of these military adventures.

I can't get a handle on the guy. I like A LOT of what he has to say, but am forced to draw the line on his views about the so-called war on christmas and issues of reproductive choice. He does appear to me to be one of the few members of congress who actually has the courage of his convictions more often than not. Him and Bernie Sanders. I think the examples that were pointed out by Stewart are unconscionable.

I like leaders who have enough conviction to piss off a few people once in awhile and not just mindlessly agree with them. No one agrees with anyone 100%.

Anyone who just agrees is a yes man and not fit to lead.

I like him too, but I don't think he would have too much of a following in Congress. Then again, maybe that's a good thing.

I like him and think he'd be a pretty good president. Unfortunately, I don't see him winning the nomination.

"This guy on Comedy Central or something. His name is Jon Stewart. He's an honest person, he wants the truth and when we do agree, he lets people know."

We Don't Need FEMA

Citing the Galveston hurricane in 1900 that obliterated much of the Texas coast, the libertarian-leaning congressman said Americans were able to rebuild their cities and put up a seawall without the federal government's help.

"FEMA is not a good friend of most people in Texas," Paul said. "All they do is come in and tell you what to do and can't do. You can't get in your houses. And they hinder the local people, and they hinder volunteers from going in."

Quite true. Sadly, it's the base factions of the party faithful on both sides that end up picking the nominees, which IMHO explains why the choices get progressively (no pun intended) worse each election - you have the outside edges of the bell curve picking wingnuts that leave those of us in the middle going "WTF do we do now?".

I have worked with FEMA during several emergencies. They are immensely over-rated and over-funded. It is better to use the NG, which has military discipline and chain of command and a lot of capability that can be expanded by bringing cadre from adjoining states. In a terrible disaster I'd want two things: A military patrol in my neighborhood and the Salvation Army to help people pick up the pieces of their lives. Been there, done that.

Ron Paul is the candidate I would most likely vote for as the President... if I vote at all.

Participation in the electoral process = permission to complain. Not voting is a bad idea, even if there's nobody you want to vote for.

So how is my feeble voice going to make a difference, anyway?! Who cares whom I vote for... seems to me my representatives will chose whomever they want to anyway... There usually is NOBODY that I want to vote for.... that's the problem.
